The Back Pain Reset Programme

Feel confident in your body again, without relying on endless treatments

This 6-week programme is designed to help you understand your body, your movement patterns (including those shaped by old injuries), and how to shift them, so you can:

  • Understand what is keeping you stuck

  • Stop relying on passive treatments like monthly chiropractor or massage appointments

  • Progress toward the activities or sports you love using muscle activation techniques and targeted strategies

  • Know what to do during a flare-up, while still moving forward toward your goals

If you’re worried about your back, you might feel like this…

  • Frustrated - because back pain is draining!

  • Uncomfortable sitting at your desk, driving, or doing your job

  • Concerned that pain is holding you back from staying active and enjoying your hobbies

  • Hesitant to lift your kids or carry shopping bags in case it triggers pain

  • Tired because pain keeps you from sleeping well, and you wake up stiff and sore

  • Overwhelmed by all the conflicting advice and short-term fixes that don’t last

  • Not wanting to rely on painkillers

Where you can expect to be at the end of 6 weeks…

This of course depends on your starting point and specific goals but based on my experience working with people over the last 10 years these are the results that are possible:

  • Feel much more confident moving through your day, without fear of pain

  • Have a greater ability to travel, walk, and go about your day without flaring symptoms

  • Be able to gradually return to physical work and exercise including running and strength training

  • Understand your body and feel empowered to manage your own recovery

  • Build sustainable movement habits, without relying on external fixes

This sounds like a lot of 6 weeks, but you’ll have access to the recordings and exercises for 3 months after the end of the course so you can continue to progress in your own time.

You might have already tried...

  • Traditional physio, GP or chiropractic care that gave you generic advice or required ongoing passive treatments

  • A core strengthening programme that helped a bit, but didn’t fully solve the problem

  • Trying to ignore it and soldiering on!

These approaches often miss the bigger picture: how your body moves as a whole, how past injuries affect current patterns, and how your beliefs and emotions can influence pain.

What makes the Back Reset programme different?
  • My approach is rooted in my physiotherapy background and benefits from additional training over the years. I integrate muscle activation techniques - specifically Be Activated, which examines movement patterns including breathing and uses targeted pressure points to “reset” muscle function – with yoga, and a structured, step-by-step method inspired by sports physiotherapist David O’Sullivan.

  • This approach considers how past injuries, emotions, traumas, and beliefs influence the way we move and helps work through those emotional and mindset elements.

  • Initially we focus on understanding your unique movement patterns and compensations. Generally speaking, we need some muscles to work better and others to release and not work as hard. You’ll  learn simple, targeted activations that can help you feel a shift quickly, usually with a reduction of pain and feeling more at ease.

  • From there, we need to get the basic movements right - our backs need to be able to bend, extend, twist, side bend and hinge. This involves challenging existing movement beliefs and patterns in a practical, hands-on way.

  • We then build strength and mobility gradually, supporting long-term change rather than just short-term relief.

  • Ultimately, I’ll help you view your body and mind as an integrated whole - empowering you, rather than relying on someone else to “fix” a specific structure.

What previous clients have said:

“I had persistent back pain that stopped me from enjoying long walks. Emma worked with me on activation exercises, and I noticed progress every week. I’m now pain-free, yippee! It’s hard work, but absolutely worth it.” B.

“I came to Emma with long-term pain in my back, hips, and legs. Doctors couldn’t find anything, and nothing else had worked. Emma’s holistic approach helped me understand the tension I was holding. I’m now mostly pain-free and know how to manage it myself.” E.I

Why work with me?

Hi, I’m Emma Marcello, a physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience in the NHS and private practice. I’ve helped many people move through back pain, not just by treating symptoms, but by helping them understand their bodies and build lasting change.

I’ve trained in:

  • Be Activated (muscle activation with Douglas Heel)

  • The Go-To Physio system (step-by-step rehab with David O’Sullivan)

  • Yoga and other somatic movement modalities, which I integrate into movement and breathwork

My approach blends clinical knowledge with a respect for the body’s ability to adapt and transform.

What’s included in the programme?

This small-group programme (max 10 people) gives you personalised support within a relaxed group setting. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Initial questionnaire — so I understand your background before we begin

  • 6 weekly group sessions (in person at Yoga Bodhi) covering: Pain education, busting myths and shifting unhelpful beliefs, Muscle activation techniques to reset old patterns quickly, foundational movement patterns — hip hinge, spinal roll, twisting, lifting, etc., personalised advice based on your goals (e.g. return to running, gym or sport)

You will also have access to online resources including:

  • Breathing and relaxation practices

  • Short movement and activation sequences that you can just follow along so you can stay consistent between group sessions.

  • Short videos on specific activation and strengthening exercises to review in your own time
