What I treat
I offer a holistic approach to treating a wide range of conditions.
In all cases, I will assess your movement patterns and take a detailed history, where we will address your worries and your goals. This helps ensure that our work together is tailored to you. Whether you’re dealing with pain, recovering from an injury, or looking to improve your performance, I work with you to find the root cause of your issues and help you move better, feel stronger, and enjoy achieving your goals.
Below are some of the common areas I treat – it is not the complete list 😊
Back Pain
Back pain is a common issue, whether you’ve been diagnosed with a specific issue (e.g. disc bulge, degenerative disc disease, radiculopathy, or sciatica) or not.
My approach looks at how your body moves as a whole, addressing not just the area of pain but the deeper causes. This mind-body approach helps you to regain strength, flexibility, and better movement for long-lasting relief.
Knee Pain
Knee pain can stem from a variety of causes, including injuries, osteoarthritis, and poor movement patterns. I help you with rehabilitation, offering exercises and techniques to restore normal function, strengthen the surrounding muscles, and reduce pain, so you can return to your activities confidently.
Hip Pain
Hip pain, including deep gluteal syndrome, piriformis syndrome, and sacroiliac joint (SIJ) dysfunction, often results from muscle imbalances or injury. I address these issues by focusing on muscle activation and joint mobility. I can also help if you have hip osteoarthritis (OA) or are preparing or recovering from hip surgery.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulder pain can occur from repetitive use, poor movement patterns, or trauma. Whether you’re dealing with rotator cuff injuries, ‘’impingement’’, or muscle imbalances, I use a combination of manual therapy and strengthening exercises to help restore function and prevent future injuries.
Neck Pain
Neck pain is often linked to stress and muscle imbalances. Through a focus on breathing, hands-on therapy and targeted exercises, I help you improve mobility, release tension, and relieve pain in the neck, restoring your ability to move freely without discomfort.
Tennis / Golfer’s Elbow
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) and Golfer’s Elbow (medial epicondylitis) are common among athletes and those who engage in repetitive arm movements. It often stems for issues further up the kinetic chain, in the shoulder and torso. I will help you identify this, strengthen the whole chain, and teach you techniques to prevent further strain on the elbow.
Foot and Calf Issues
If you’re dealing with foot pain such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, or shin splints, I can help. Calf tightness, strains, or muscle imbalances can limit your mobility and performance. I’ll help you underlying issues contributing to the pain. Through targeted therapy, strength building, I’ll work with you to relieve pain and restore mobility.
Performance
You don’t have to be injured to benefit from physiotherapy! If you feel like your performance in sports, running, or general fitness could improve but you’re feeling stuck, I can help identify what's holding you back. Together, we’ll assess your movement patterns, pinpoint weaknesses, and work to optimize your strength, flexibility, and endurance, so you can take your performance to the next level.
All of the above :-)
If you have a combination of issues across different joints or areas and no clear diagnosis, don’t worry! I’m experienced in helping patients like you, where the problem may not fit neatly into one category but requires a more holistic approach.
Are We a Good Fit?
I believe in a collaborative approach to recovery. The work we do together will be most effective if you are engaged in the process. I’m not the right fit for very acute injuries that require immediate medical attention (I work part-time and I may not be available at short notice) or for those who are looking for a passive treatment (e.g. manipulations or massage- and there’s nothing wrong with a good massage!). I am definitely ‘’hands-on’’, but also focus on long-term healing and performance improvements through movement, exercise, and education.
If you're not sure if I can help with your specific issue, please contact me—I’m happy to answer your questions.
